New tunes require new horizons

It´s been a while since I last updated you guys on my current ongoings. The reason for  my delay in posting lies in the many new projects that seem overly time consuming right now. First news: I signed up to an audio technician course which has started in January and is scheduled to run through mai. In this course I´ll learn the ropes on recording music in Pro Tools and Logic X. As you can imagine I am super ecxited and busy learning. There´s plenty of physics I need to understand before starting to work on projects in the studio. I´ll make sure to share some insights into the basics of recording as soon as possible.

On other news, I have aquired a piano, which brings me so much joy and opens up a new musical world. I had had an elctric organ before, but as you can probably imagine, a piano is a totally different thing. I started composing some songs on the piano. Those of you who know me a bit, might be aware that I used to write ALL of my music on the guitar (well- and on my mind;)) previously. The piano literally changes the way I write and more importantly it changes the tone of my musical settings.

The songs come out more dramatically and with very strong and clear phrasings. The first song I wrote is called „Moments“. It talks about the delicacy oft the present moment. All we really always have is „right now“. We should take our chances in every moment, but also relax more and enjoy each moment as it happens (as opposed to focussing on future achievements all the time). After all we all learn as we go. I will upload a video oft he song in my song section next week approximately. Stay tuned. You can stay up to date via my newsletter (see sign-up box on my start-page) or via my facebook page, I recently created. If you yourself feel like most of your songs sound the same and you´ve grown tired of „your sound“, I suggest you try writing on a different instrument also. Or, in case that sounds like too much trouble, you could start by mixing up your songwrting process. If you usually start by making up chord progressions, try working on some lyrics first next time. Likewise, if the lyrics are your starting point, try humming a nice melody first or start working on a backing track. Anything that goes against the routine might open new doors for you. Please mind this might as well not work out for you (every artist has their own ways of creating something great), but I guess staying open towards new ways of expanding the musical horizon is always worth a lot. Let me know your thoughts and experiences! Yours, Katie
