Following her debut album ROOT TO RISE, which was released in July 2020, Katie Wellenberg presents a new single just in time for year´s end: NEXT YEAR is a positive New Years theme song aiming at closing the pandemic year on a hopeful note!
“Every 365 days we get the chance to start over! The year´s end is a great time to celebrate all your achievements, but also reflect on what steps to take next, what to focus on, what to change and how to proceed with life. ” says Katie.
“2020 has been a rough year for most of us, and I wanted to take this song and put it out as a means to spread some good vibes for 2021. Noone knows how the pandemic will carry on, but regardless of the challenges we are facing, I think we can always focus on being grateful for the good things in life. Family, friends, laughter and music! This song revolves around that precisely!
For this project, Katie teamed up with Alex Keogh and P.R. Thompson from Munich Sessions Studio who together had produced her prior album project “Root to Rise”. “My cowriter Alex Keogh helped me take my ideas to the next level and was in charge of the production. I had a pop-country sound in mind when I came to the studio, and I think we did a great job in achieving this after only a couple of rewrites. Cowriting was super fun! P.R. Thompson played guitars on the track! We did a lot of layering to give the track the right texture.
